Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I know what type of service I need?

People come to us for many different reasons, but essentially we offer two different types of services - therapy and assessment.

If you are unsure of what you might need, please get in touch and we can work it out together.

  • Is there a waiting time for appointments?

We currently have availability for assessments and reporting , and Behaviour Support Plan participants predominantly.

There is a wait time for NDIS Participants, private paying clients and clients with a Medicare referral. Please get in touch to discuss current wait times

  • Preparing for a first appointment.

When booking your appointment admin will send you online intake forms to complete before your appointment.

If you have been referred by another health practitioner (such as a GP) you will be asked for a copy of the referral letter, so please bring this with you.

It is common when meeting your psychologist for the first time to feel nervous about therapy and what to expect. Writing down a few notes or even a mind map to bring with you can help. Think about about what you hope to get from therapy, how you have been feeling, what you may have tried to feel better, and the names of any medications you are taking.

  • When you arrive for your first appointment.

As you enter 50 Bultje Street you will turn right and slide the glass foyer door to our waiting room . On Monday to Thursday, Jo will be at reception. Check-in with her and say 'Hi!'. Take a seat in the waiting room, or our low-sensory seating in the reception area. This is where you will wait until your clinician comes out to meet you and then invite you into the private therapy room.

  • What if I don't have NDIS funding yet? The Pac Group NDIS Guide

    1. Gather together any documents you already have that will support you in the process - This may include medical reports, allied health reports, and school reports.

    2. Access the NDIS website to see if you are eligible: https://www.ndis.gov.au/applying-access-ndis/am-i-eligible

    3. Get in Touch with us at The PAC Group to complete any assessments and/or to assist you in completing any application forms. We can assist in assessing autism, ADHD, learning disorders (such as dyslexia), and intellectual/cognitive, developmental, and mental health concerns.

    4. Gather all final documents and assessments, and schedule an NDIS planning meeting with a Local Area Coordinator: https://www.ndis.gov.au/contact/locations/

    5. Ask a friend or family member to go along for support to your planning meeting and take notes to remind you what was discussed

    6. Get to know your plan, check if the details are correct, and talk to your Local Area Coordinator if you have concerns

    7. Organise your NDIS finances by selecting a plan manager, or choosing to manage your finances yourself

    8. Organise your supports - At The PAC Group, we work with NDIS participants to achieve their goals. We can provide support to assist you with daily living skills and overcoming some of the barriers to achieving your goals.

  • What happens in the first appointment?

The first session is for you to get to know your clinician and to feel comfortable. We also want to get to know you and understand the difficulties you have been experiencing. You will be able to ask any questions you have and discuss your goals.

It can be tough to be open and honest with someone you don’t know, and we understand that trust develops overtime. Sessions will go at your pace and will involve your input.

  • Confidentiality.

It is common to be concerned about confidentiality. Your information will remain confidential at all times, unless:

    1. You give consent to your information being shared to specific people.
    2. We need to share information to keep you or someone else safe (i.e., if there is a significant risk of harm).
    3. The information is subpoenaed by a court.

This will all be discussed with you in the first session.

  • Bulk Billing.

Unfortunately we do not bulk bill appointments.

  • Medicare Rebates.

Once you have provided an eligible referral from your GP, we are happy to process the Medicare Rebate for you. At the time of your appointment, you will be expected to pay the full fee, and within 24-48hrs you will have the Medicare rebate refunded back into your bank account.

  • Fees.

Cost for appointments and assessments vary depending on the service and are discussed with you when you make an enquiry. Email us at admin@thepacgroup.com.au to find out more about our fee
